Avinash Mohanty Takes Charge as Commissioner of TG SAFE in Hyderabad

Hyderabad: IPS officer Avinash Mohanty took charge on Monday as the Commissioner of the Telangana Standards Authority for Food and Essential Drugs (TG SAFE).
The state government established TG SAFE to strengthen the regulatory framework governing food and drugs, with a focus on ensuring quality, safety, and strict compliance with prescribed standards across Telangana.
To create the new authority, the government brought the food safety department and the drugs control department together under a unified administrative framework. The decision follows a significant rise in the volume and diversity of licensed food business operators and drug establishments across the state.
The unified system is intended to enhance surveillance, enforcement, and institutional coordination against unsafe, spurious, and substandard food and medicines.
According to officials, the government will initially implement the unified framework in the CURE region, chosen due to the high concentration of food businesses and pharmaceutical establishments operating in the area.
