Auto driver arrested for raping and robbing passenger in Bacharam

The Pocharam IT Corridor police on Friday arrested a 50-year-old autorickshaw driver for allegedly drugging, raping, and robbing a female passenger in Bacharam. The incident, which took place on Thursday afternoon, has led to a case being booked against the accused, with sources confirming the investigation will be transferred to the Uppal police.
The accused, identified as Amgot Jeetya, allegedly targeted the victim while she was on her way to a hospital in Bharatnagar. Police officials stated that the victim was crying due to her husband's ill health when Jeetya interacted with her, offered her a lift, and gave her sedated toddy.
After the victim drank the sedated beverage and lost consciousness, Jeetya drove his autorickshaw via Ghatkesar to an isolated location in Bacharam. Police said the accused parked his vehicle by the roadside, carried the unconscious woman to the secluded spot, and raped her. He then fled the scene in his vehicle.
Jeetya also stole Rs 1,500 in cash and a mobile phone from the victim. When the woman regained consciousness, she realized what had occurred and lodged a complaint with the police.
Following the complaint, the police shifted the victim to a government hospital for medical examination and treatment under the supervision of BHAROSA teams.
To apprehend the suspect, the police formed two special teams. Investigators tracked Jeetya by examining over 50 CCTV camera footages along the route from Bharatnagar to the crime scene in Bacharam.
According to K. Kankaiah Goud, the Station House Officer (SHO) of the Pocharam IT Corridor police, the teams identified the accused through his autorickshaw's registration plates. Police arrested Jeetya from his house in Pratap Singaram on Friday.
During interrogation, Jeetya confessed to the crime, admitting that he waited for the victim to lose consciousness before taking her to Bacharam. A case of kidnap, rape, and robbery has been registered against him.
