Asaduddin Owaisi Urges CM Revanth Reddy to Halt Gudimalkapur Market Relocation

AIMIM President and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi on Sunday, July 5, 2026, urged Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy to halt the proposed relocation of the vegetable and flower market in Gudimalkapur, Hyderabad. Owaisi warned that shifting the market to Aziz Nagar in Rangareddy District would impact the livelihoods of nearly 10,000 families.
In a message addressed to the Chief Minister, Owaisi asserted that the proposed relocation violates the provisions of the Market Act of 1966. He noted that the Gudimalkapur market serves as a crucial hub, catering directly to the people residing in the South and West districts of Hyderabad.
According to the Hyderabad MP, the Chairman of the Market Committee is seeking to shift the market "for no reason." Owaisi also brought the matter to the attention of Telangana Chief Secretary Sanjay Jaju to intervene in the issue.
Reflecting on the history of the market, Owaisi pointed out that the facility was previously shifted in 1991 from Sabzi Mandi at Karwan to its current location in Gudimalkapur.
Owaisi further argued that several government offices have already been relocated away from South and West Hyderabad over the last two years. He stated that shifting the market now would be highly unjust to the local population and would send a wrong message.
