Asaduddin Owaisi Fills Voter Enumeration Form, Criticises Election Process

On Sunday, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi and his family officially filled out and submitted their voter enumeration forms at his residence in Hyderabad. Booth Level Officers (BLOs) visited the MP’s residence as part of the ongoing SIR of electoral rolls in Telangana.

Following the visit, Owaisi issued a public media statement highlighting several procedural and accessibility issues in Telangana’s voter enumeration process. He criticized election authorities for providing the physical enumeration forms primarily in Telugu. Owaisi demanded that these forms also be made available in Urdu, which is Telangana’s second official language, as well as English, to assist non-Telugu speakers.

The Hyderabad MP also raised questions regarding the design of the physical enumeration form, which restricts entries to only five children per household. Owaisi pointed out that no Indian law strips citizens of their voting or mapping rights based on large family sizes.

Additionally, Owaisi requested Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to intervene in the identification process. He urged the Chief Minister to demand that the Election Commission accept common identification documents, such as PAN cards, driving licences, and food security cards.

Owaisi explained that several documents currently featured on the standard 12-document list, such as a permanent residence certificate, are not issued by Telangana state authorities, creating practical difficulties for local residents during the enumeration.
