APSRTC Bus Collides with Private Bus on Vijayawada-Hyderabad Highway Near Akupamula

An APSRTC bus and a private travels bus collided on the Vijayawada-Hyderabad highway near Akupamula in Suryapet district shortly after midnight on Sunday, leaving the state transport bus driver trapped in his cabin and injuring several passengers.
The accident took place when both buses were heading towards Hyderabad. The private travels bus was en route from Narsapur to Hyderabad, while the APSRTC bus was travelling from Eluru to Hyderabad.
According to reports, the collision occurred after the driver of the private travels bus suddenly applied the brakes. The trailing APSRTC bus allegedly rammed into the rear of the private bus. The severe impact caused extensive damage to the front portion of the APSRTC bus, trapping the driver inside the crushed cabin.
Police personnel arrived at the scene shortly after receiving information about the crash and initiated a rescue operation. It took nearly two hours of concerted effort for rescue teams to extricate the trapped APSRTC driver from the damaged cabin.
A few passengers travelling in the buses sustained injuries during the crash. Emergency responders and police shifted the injured passengers to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.
Police have registered a case regarding the incident and launched an investigation to ascertain the exact circumstances and cause of the collision.
