Angad Cheema Shoots Career-Low 61 to Lead Telangana Open 2026 at Vooty Golf County

Chandigarh golfer Angad Cheema produced a career-low, bogey-free 11-under 61 to take a two-shot lead at 13-under 131 following the second round of the Rs 1 crore Telangana Open 2026 at Vooty Golf County.
Cheema, who opened the tournament with a 70, delivered his record round under preferred lies conditions following rain at the venue. He began with a birdie on the first hole and followed with five consecutive birdies from the third through the seventh holes to reach six-under through seven. After four straight pars, he chipped in for an eagle on the par-five 12th hole and added three more birdies coming home.
Delhi's Rashid Khan moved into second place at 11-under 133 after shooting a five-under 67. Khan had started the day tied for third, one stroke behind overnight co-leaders Manu Gandas and Akshay Sharma.
Hyderabad teenager Vishesh Sharma held third place at 10-under 134 after carding a four-under 68. The 19-year-old, who recently returned to competitive play after a two-week illness, recorded an eagle on the par-five third hole, four birdies, and two bogeys.
Chandigarh's Akshay Sharma carded a 70 to share fourth place at nine-under 135 alongside Gurugram's Dhruv Sheoran and Sri Lanka's Mithun Perera. Perera, competing after coming out of retirement this season, posted a bogey-free 65 with seven birdies.
First-round co-leader Manu Gandas carded a 71 to drop into a five-way tie for seventh place at eight-under 136. Current DP World PGTI Rankings leader Saptak Talwar shot a 68 to sit tied for 23rd at four-under 140.
The cut was set at one-under 143, allowing 50 golfers from the starting field of 131 players to advance to the final two rounds of the tournament.
