Ammunition Seized from Retired Army Officer's Baggage at Hyderabad Airport

Security officials at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) in Hyderabad seized live rounds and spent cartridges from the luggage of a retired Indian Army officer on Sunday.

The Hyderabad-based passenger was scheduled to board a flight to Delhi when security personnel detected the ammunition during standard screening procedures for departing baggage.

According to available information, the passenger had recently retired from military service and had previously surrendered the ammunition in his possession to the Government of India. However, he reportedly overlooked several live rounds and empty cartridges that remained inside his bag.

Following the discovery, the ammunition was seized by airport security officials at the screening checkpoint. The matter was subsequently referred to the local law enforcement authorities stationed at the airport.

The RGIA Police have registered a case regarding the incident. Investigators have initiated an inquiry to verify the circumstances under which the live rounds and spent cartridges remained inside the retired officer's luggage.
