AISA President Neha Bora Urges Progressive Student Unity in Hyderabad

All India Students' Association (AISA) president Neha Bora called for unity among progressive student groups during a political discussion organised by the organisation's city unit in Hyderabad on Monday.

Addressing the gathering on the recent Gen Z-led upsurge, Bora stated that the issues and crises currently confronting young people in the country are intrinsically linked to caste and communal politics. She urged students to remain vigilant against groups and individuals who solicit votes using caste or religious affiliations, highlighting appeals made in the names of specific communities such as Brahmin or Rajput.

Bora criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), and Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), stating that they utilise such identity-based appeals to convert social backgrounds into instruments for electoral gain. She noted that these strategies serve to deflect attention from pressing student concerns, including access to justice, employment opportunities, education quality, and institutional accountability.

Looking ahead to upcoming student union elections, the AISA leader expressed hope that progressive student forces would unite to address these systemic issues and counter divisive electoral tactics on campuses across the region.
