Air India Pilot Files ATC Complaint Over Disco Light During Landing at Shamshabad

An Air India pilot operating a flight from Delhi to Hyderabad lodged a complaint with Air Traffic Control after encountering a bright disco light beam while preparing to land at Shamshabad Airport.

According to reports, the pilot noticed the strong beam of light directed towards the aircraft when it was approximately 100 nautical miles away from the airport.

Following the observation, the pilot reported the incident directly to Air Traffic Control (ATC) to bring attention to the safety disturbance experienced during the flight's approach.

Directing strong beams of light at an aircraft poses a serious risk to flight safety, especially during critical maneuvers such as take-off and landing. A bright light entering the cockpit can temporarily impair a pilot's vision and affect their ability to operate the aircraft safely.
