AIMIM Intensifies Voter Assistance Campaign for Electoral Roll Revision in Hyderabad

The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has intensified its voter assistance campaign and awareness drive for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls across Hyderabad, operating from its party headquarters in Darussalam since March. The initiative aims to assist eligible voters in completing the registration process to prevent genuine voters from being removed from the electoral rolls.
The campaign began in March when the party opened special help desks at Darussalam. At these desks, party workers guided residents through the SIR process, explained the required documents, assisted with the elector mapping process, and answered queries from the public.
Following the initial launch, the AIMIM expanded the programme by opening additional assistance centres in various parts of Hyderabad. Trained volunteers at these centres have been helping residents fill out forms, check their registration details, and complete the necessary formalities. Special assistance has been provided to senior citizens, women, and others needing extra help.
The party is now conducting door-to-door outreach by sending local leaders, corporators, booth-level workers, and volunteers directly into neighbourhoods. These teams are working to create awareness about the SIR process and help eligible voters complete the required procedures so that no genuine voter is left out of the electoral rolls.
As part of the campaign, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP Asaduddin Owaisi has visited several areas within his Lok Sabha constituency. During these visits, Owaisi explained the importance of the SIR process and outlined the steps voters must follow to complete the exercise within the stipulated time.
Owaisi has also raised concerns regarding the SIR exercise during public meetings and media interactions. While criticizing the exercise, he stated that the Election Commission does not have the power to decide a person’s citizenship. However, he stressed the importance of the drive to ensure that no genuine voter is removed from the rolls.
