AIMIM Expels Telangana MLC Mirza Rahmat Baig With Immediate Effect

HYDERABAD — The All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) has expelled Telangana Member of Legislative Council (MLC) Mirza Rahmat Baig from the party with immediate effect.
The disciplinary decision was announced by AIMIM joint secretary S A Hussain Anwar through a statement shared on the party's official national handle on X. The party has instructed Baig to formally vacate his legislative seat immediately.
"Mirza Rahmat Baig has been expelled from AIMIM with immediate effect. He must immediately submit his resignation to the chairman of the Legislative Council," Hussain Anwar stated in the post.
The party leadership and functionaries have not disclosed the specific reasons behind the expulsion, and the AIMIM is yet to provide further details regarding the circumstances that prompted the move. It also remains unconfirmed whether Baig received any prior show-cause notice or if the decision followed an internal complaint.
Attempts to reach Rahmat Baig for his reaction were unsuccessful as his mobile phone connection remained out of reach.
The expulsion follows reports from a day earlier indicating that Baig had approached the Cyber Crime Police in Hyderabad. The MLC had lodged a complaint alleging that unidentified individuals were blackmailing and threatening him, claiming they would circulate morphed and deepfake photographs and videos of him if he did not pay them money.
