AIMIM Area President Mehboob Ali Stabbed to Death in Hyderabad's Vattepally

Mehboob Ali, an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) area president, was allegedly stabbed to death by unidentified assailants near Guntal Shah Baba Dargah in the Vattepally area of Hyderabad late Sunday night.

According to police, the fatal attack took place at approximately 10 pm. Ali was ambushed by a group of five to six individuals who inflicted severe stab wounds on him. Following the assault, he was rushed to a hospital for emergency medical treatment, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

A senior police officer stated that preliminary information indicated the attackers arrived together as a group before stabbing Ali. Police have not yet determined the exact motive behind the killing.

To probe the case, police have constituted three separate investigative teams. Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage recovered from the vicinity of the crime scene and recording statements from eyewitnesses to establish the identities of the assailants. Active efforts are underway to track down and apprehend everyone involved in the attack.

Police officials noted that they have not yet linked the incident to any political dispute, nor have they confirmed if the killing was connected to Ali's political background or activities.

The murder has triggered widespread concern across the Old City, particularly regarding the reported use of knives and the coordinated involvement of multiple assailants. The incident comes amid heightened public scrutiny regarding law and order in Hyderabad, with residents raising questions over surveillance, policing, and preventive security measures in vulnerable neighbourhoods.
