AIG Hospitals Adopts J&J Digital Platform to Record and Review Surgeries

AIG Hospitals in Hyderabad has partnered with Johnson & Johnson to adopt the Polyphonic Surgery platform, a digital system that securely records and reviews surgical procedures to enhance doctor training, case discussions, and surgical practices. Under the collaboration, the Hyderabad-based hospital will be among the early healthcare institutions in India and the Asia-Pacific region to implement the technology in its operating rooms.

The J&J Polyphonic Surgery platform consolidates surgical videos, case reviews, learning resources, and post-operative feedback onto a single digital platform. The technology allows surgical teams to revisit procedures after an operation, discuss specific cases, and use surgical recordings for structured training and knowledge-sharing. The initiative is intended to improve collaboration among surgeons, operating room teams, and medical residents.

AIG Hospitals will work alongside Johnson & Johnson to evaluate the system through its practical use by surgeons, operating room teams, residents, information technology professionals, and hospital administrators. The hospital stated that this evaluation exercise will help assess how connected digital technologies can improve clinical practices and boost operating-room efficiency.

Dr. G.V. Rao, director and chief of surgery at AIG Hospitals, noted that surgical care involves not only the execution of a procedure inside the operating room, but also comprehensive planning, team coordination, subsequent review, and continuous learning.

Dr. Rao stated that the technology will assist surgical teams in communicating better, learning directly from completed procedures, and training doctors more effectively, with the ultimate objective of delivering more precise and consistent care to patients.
