Aheel Mohammed and Kanishka Govind Win AITA Under-14 Titles in Hyderabad

Telangana’s Aheel Mohammed and Tamil Nadu’s Kanishka Govind secured the boys’ and girls’ singles titles respectively at the AITA National Series Under-14 tennis tournament, which took place at the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy in Hyderabad on Saturday.

In the boys’ singles event, Aheel Mohammed representing Telangana claimed the championship title after defeating Kabir Gundecha of Maharashtra. Mohammed won the match in straight sets, taking the first set in a tiebreak before closing out the victory with a final score of 7-6 (3), 6-2 against Gundecha.

In the girls’ singles category, Tamil Nadu’s Kanishka Govind clinched the title after a victory against Telangana’s G. Aneeshka in the final match. Govind dominated the opening set without dropping a game and held off Aneeshka in the second set to seal a 6-0, 6-4 victory.

Kanishka Govind also achieved a double victory at the tournament by winning the girls’ doubles title. She partnered with Trisha Bhosale of Maharashtra to defeat the team of Safar Priyal from Karnataka and G. Aneeksha from Telangana. The pair of Bhosale and Govind won the first set 6-2, dropped the second set 3-6, and ultimately won the super tiebreak 10-7 to take the doubles title.

In the boys’ doubles competition, S. Nihal Reddy of Karnataka and Neev Sheth of Maharashtra emerged as the tournament champions. The duo recorded a convincing victory over Arjun Dua and Viraj Jarwal from Delhi in the final, securing the title with a straight-sets scoreline of 6-1, 6-3.

The finalists across both the boys’ and girls’ singles and doubles competitions were featured at the Sania Mirza Tennis Academy during the conclusion of the AITA National Series Under-14 tournament in Hyderabad.
