Adilabad Police Seize 236 Vehicles in Early-Morning Checks at Sonala

Adilabad police seized 236 vehicles during extensive early-morning inspections conducted as part of a community contact programme at Sonala Mandal headquarters on Tuesday.
The seized vehicles included 232 two-wheelers, two auto-rickshaws, and two cars, including one vehicle fitted with a fake number plate. The operation began at 5 am with the participation of around 150 police officers and personnel.
According to Special Branch DSP N. Venkata Narasayya, the programme was carried out under the directions of Adilabad Superintendent of Police Akhil Mahajan. The initiative was aimed at maintaining law and order, preventing crimes, enhancing public security, and strengthening police-public relations.
During the checks, police registered a case against one individual for consuming ganja and booked excise cases against two individuals after seizing liquor bottles allegedly meant for illegal sale.
Venkata Narasayya issued a warning against anti-social and illegal activities, including ganja usage and distribution, illegal liquor sales, matka, and the smuggling of Public Distribution System (PDS) rice in border areas. He stated that the police department is prioritising the eradication of ganja-related activities and that strict legal action will be taken against violators.
Police officials also advised rowdy-sheeters to reform their conduct and adhere to the law. Motorists were directed to follow traffic rules and wear helmets, while local residents were urged to install CCTV cameras across the locality to aid in crime prevention and investigation.
