Adilabad Police Arrest 5 From Bihar in Rs 3.5 Crore Fake Fertiliser Scam

The Adilabad police have busted an inter-state cybercrime gang and arrested five men from Bihar for allegedly defrauding aspiring entrepreneurs and farmers of nearly Rs 3.5 crore by falsely promising them fertiliser franchises and loans.

Adilabad district superintendent of police Akhil Mahajan stated that the five arrested individuals have been identified as Abhishek Kumar, Ashutosh Kumar, Nishu Kumar, Ritesh Kumar, and Abinash Kumar, all residents of Nawada district in Bihar. Following their apprehension, police seized 10 mobile phones and Rs 70,000 in cash from their possession.

The operation was conducted in Barhi Bigha village within Bihar's Nawada district. A team from the Adilabad police carried out the raid with the assistance of approximately 150 personnel from the Bihar police. The law enforcement team faced stiff resistance during the operation, as local villagers attempted to prevent the arrests and threw stones at the police officers before the suspects were successfully taken into custody.

The police action followed a formal complaint lodged by a resident named A Ganesh within the jurisdiction of the Jainath police station in Adilabad. Ganesh approached the authorities after being duped by unidentified cyber fraudsters who lured him with the fraudulent promise of securing a franchise of National Fertilizer Private Ltd.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the five-member gang ran an elaborate cyber fraud network targeting individuals across the country. By offering fake dealership opportunities and processing sham loan applications, the gang allegedly swindled victims in various states out of an estimated Rs 3.5 crore.

All five accused were taken into custody following the raid in Bihar and are facing legal proceedings in connection with the cheating and cybercrime case registered in Adilabad.
