ACB Unearths Rs 30 Crore in Assets From Hyderabad Survey Official Narahari Rao

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has unearthed assets worth over Rs. 30 crore, including a G+3 building at TNGOs Colony in Gachibowli, following raids on Sunkari Narahari Rao, the Deputy Director of Survey and Land Records. On June 20, 2026, details of the massive wealth emerged, showing properties across Puppalaguda, Narsingi, Rajendranagar, and Chatrinaka suspected to have been amassed through bribes.

During simultaneous searches conducted at 10 locations linked to Rao, investigators discovered a Rs. 3.5 crore fixed deposit in a private cooperative society. The deposit reportedly earned 12 percent annual interest.

According to ACB sources, the cooperative society accepted the entire Rs. 3.5 crore deposit in cash, maintained no online records, and paid out the interest in hard cash. This arrangement ensured there was no income tax scrutiny on the transactions.

The ACB is writing to the Income Tax Department to alert them about these transactions. Investigators are working to identify the members of the cooperative society and determine how long it has been operating.

Officials also recovered approximately Rs. 1.54 crore in cash from Rao's residence and a bank locker. Investigators suspect the cash was received in exchange for official favours, with Rao allegedly collecting a minimum of Rs. 10 lakhs in bribes per transaction.

Aside from the Gachibowli building, the seized assets include documents for five open plots in Rangareddy district, 1.24 acres of agricultural land at Maheshwaram, and a 2,500-square-foot flat in Puppalaguda.

Additionally, officials found two flats measuring 1,860 square feet each in Narsingi, a 1,377-square-foot flat in Rajendranagar, and a G+2 residential building in Chatrinaka. Gold and silver were also found during the searches.

The ACB plans to examine the details of all fixed deposits held by Rao in banks and the cooperative society. Officials will also scrutinise files cleared by Rao during his tenure to check if he overlooked violations while granting official permissions.
