ACB unearths Rs 20 crore in assets linked to Shamirpet tahsildar T Sucharita

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday conducted simultaneous searches across multiple locations in Hyderabad, including Himayathnagar, Keesara, and Khanamet, unearthing assets worth an estimated Rs 20 crore belonging to Shamirpet tahsildar T Sucharita. The searches were launched after the ACB registered a disproportionate assets case against her on Wednesday under the Prevention of Corruption Act.

Sucharita, who served as the tahsildar and joint sub-registrar of Shamirpet, was already under arrest in connection with a bribery case from May. She is currently in judicial remand. The latest raids were part of a fresh probe initiated by the ACB into her accumulated wealth, which investigators suspect is disproportionate to her known sources of income.

The ACB sleuths targeted four specific locations during the Thursday operation. These searches were carried out at Sucharita’s personal residence in Himayathnagar, as well as three other premises associated with her relatives, associates, and benamis within the city.

During the course of the searches, investigators identified several immovable properties. These included two acres and 17 guntas of agricultural land located in Damarakunta village within the Siddipet district. Additionally, officials discovered two plots situated in Keesara and Khanamet, alongside three flats located at different places across the city of Hyderabad.

The search operations also yielded significant physical and financial assets. Investigators seized Rs 12 lakh in hard cash, two cars, and gold and diamond ornaments valued at Rs 1.2 crore. Furthermore, bank deposits amounting to Rs 38 lakh were uncovered and seized during the raids.

According to the ACB, while the estimated market value of the seized assets is around Rs 20 crore, the official documentary value of the properties, cash, and valuables detected during the searches stands at Rs 5.05 crore. This action follows the earlier bribery investigation that led to her initial arrest.
