ACB Catches Alair Revenue Inspector and GPO in Rs 14,000 Bribe Case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Monday caught a Revenue Inspector of Alair mandal in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district alongside a Grama Palana Officer (GPO) while accepting a bribe of Rs 14,000 to facilitate a land registration process. Both accused were subsequently taken into custody to be produced before the I Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB Cases in Nampally, Hyderabad.

According to the ACB, the Revenue Inspector, identified as Vemuganti Purnachander Rao of Alair mandal, had demanded the bribe amount from a complainant. The illicit payment was sought in exchange for issuing an official report to the Tahsildar, which was necessary to facilitate the registration of land sold by the complainant’s sister.

Rao allegedly arranged to receive the money through Shaik Ahmed, who serves as the Grama Palana Officer of Kolanupaka village. Following a trap laid by the ACB officials belonging to the Nalgonda Range, both officials were caught in the act. The entire bribe amount of Rs 14,000 was recovered directly from Ahmed at the instance of Rao.

The ACB stated that the two public servants acted dishonestly and improperly to obtain an undue advantage from the citizen seeking government services. Following the recovery of the tainted cash and the execution of necessary procedural formalities, the bureau initiated formal proceedings against both individuals.

Both Rao and Ahmed were processed for production before the special ACB court in Nampally for judicial remand. Anti-Corruption Bureau officials confirmed that further investigation into the case is actively underway.
