ACB books Karimnagar inspector Gundeti Ramu in ₹87.44 lakh assets case

The Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on June 24, 2026, registered a disproportionate assets case against Gundeti Ramu, a Prohibition and Excise Inspector currently posted in Karimnagar Urban, for allegedly amassing wealth beyond his known sources of income. The case was booked following extensive searches conducted at a rented house linked to the officer in the Bhavani Nagar area of Jagtial.
Ramu, who previously served as the Station House Officer (SHO) of Vemulawada, is accused of acquiring both movable and immovable assets through unlawful means during his service.
During the raid at the Bhavani Nagar residence, ACB investigators recovered a total of ₹20.67 lakh in cash. A detailed examination of bank accounts associated with the officer and his family members revealed further significant holdings. This included ₹29.88 lakh kept in Ramu’s personal State Bank of India (SBI) account, as well as another ₹16.77 lakh deposited in a Union Bank account belonging to his father.
In addition to the cash and bank balances, search officials identified various household and personal articles valued at ₹11.97 lakh.
The searches also led to the identification of multiple property documents. Among the immovable assets unearthed were an open plot located in Karimnagar, which has an official documented value of ₹6.05 lakh, and a piece of commercial land situated in Sircilla, officially valued at ₹2.18 lakh.
While the total documented value of the recovered assets has been officially estimated at ₹87.44 lakh, the ACB stated that the actual market value of the immovable properties is likely to be substantially higher than the figures recorded in the official documents.
According to ACB officials, the evidence gathered during the searches strongly suggests that the accused inspector accumulated these assets illegally. This development follows a prior criminal misconduct case that was registered against Ramu earlier this year on March 17, 2026.
The bureau confirmed that searches are still continuing at various locations and a further investigation into the officer's assets is currently underway.
