ACB Arrests Mahabubnagar Survey Superintendent For Demanding Rs 15000 Bribe

On Wednesday, the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested Bommireddy Venkateshwar Reddy, who serves as the Superintendent of Survey and Land Records, in connection with a bribe case in Karvena Village, Boothpur Mandal, Mahabubnagar District.

The state anti-corruption agency apprehended the government official after he allegedly demanded and accepted a bribe of Rs. 15,000 from a complainant.

According to official reports from the ACB, the bribe was demanded and accepted by Reddy for showing an official favour to the complainant. The official favour involved processing and putting up a specific file to the Assistant Director of Survey and Land Records. This file was required for carrying out official corrections in the village map pertaining to Karvena Village, which is located in the Boothpur Mandal of the Mahabubnagar District.

During the operation on Wednesday, the sleuths of the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau successfully recovered the entire tainted bribe amount of Rs. 15,000 directly from the possession of the accused officer, Reddy. The recovery of the cash confirmed the transaction and led to his immediate arrest by the anti-corruption agency.

The ACB has withheld the identity and other details of the complainant in this bribery case. Officials stated that this measure was taken to ensure the security and safety of the individual who reported the corrupt activity to the authorities.

The arrest of Bommireddy Venkateshwar Reddy highlights the ongoing efforts by the Telangana Anti-Corruption Bureau to target corruption within the state's land administration and survey departments. The accused Superintendent remains in custody as the investigation into the bribery case continues.
