ACB Arrests Ibrahimpatnam Revenue Officer in Rs 50 Crore Assets Case

The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested an administrative officer working at the Ibrahimpatnam Revenue Divisional Office on Thursday in connection with a disproportionate assets case, unearthing properties and valuables with an estimated market value of around Rs 50 crore.

Simultaneous searches were carried out across seven locations linked to the accused officer, identified as 61-year-old Desani Srinivas Reddy. Reddy, a tahsildar cadre officer currently serving as the administrative officer at Ibrahimpatnam, was raided at his residence in Karmanghat, his office in Ibrahimpatnam, and five other properties belonging to his relatives and associates.

According to ACB officials, the documentary value of the unearthed assets stands at approximately Rs 6.87 crore, while the prevailing market value is estimated to be around Rs 50 crore.

During the searches, investigators discovered multiple immovable properties, including two flats in Karmanghat and a G+3 structure with a penthouse situated on a 233-square-yard plot in Karmanghat. Sleuths also identified 10 acres and eight guntas of agricultural land at Nallavelly village in Yacharam mandal of Rangareddy district, alongside eight other plots spread across the city and its outskirts.

In addition to real estate, the search teams found that the officer had invested Rs 86 lakh as his share in a bar and restaurant located in Balapur. The bureau also recovered Rs 4 lakh in cash, bank balances amounting to Rs 8.6 lakh, 680 grams of gold ornaments, three cars, two two-wheelers, vehicles valued at Rs 59 lakh, and household items and electronic gadgets worth Rs 11 lakh. Officials noted that the officer had also pledged 46 tolas of gold with a bank to avail of a loan.

This marks the second disproportionate assets case registered against Reddy by the anti-graft agency. He was previously booked by the ACB on December 14, 2009, while serving as a mandal revenue inspector at the Maheshwaram tahsildar office. Following that earlier probe, the government had recommended departmental action against him.

The ACB stated that Reddy was booked under Sections 13(1)(b) read with 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act for acquiring wealth through corrupt practices and dubious means during his service. Following his arrest, officials stated that he would be produced before the special ACB court for judicial remand on Friday, while further verification of additional assets continues.
