ABVP and NSUI Members Clash at EFLU Campus in Hyderabad, Several Injured

A clash broke out between representatives of the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and the National Students' Union of India (NSUI) on the English and Foreign Languages University (EFLU) campus in Hyderabad on Friday, leaving several individuals injured. Following the incident, the Osmania University police booked cases against members of both student organisations.

The altercation originated from an earlier confrontation on Thursday, when students belonging to the ABVP EFLU unit staged a protest at one of the women’s hostels over an issue. During that demonstration, members of the NSUI allegedly attempted to disrupt the protest and hurled abuses at the gathering.

Although the students dispersed after the demonstration, tensions flared up again in the early hours of Friday morning. According to allegations made by the ABVP, some NSUI members barged into the room of a BA student around 3 am and assaulted him.

The ABVP further alleged that the NSUI members gagged one of the student's batchmates and assaulted other ABVP members. A physical clash then broke out between the two groups when ABVP members rushed in to come to the rescue of the student.

In the wake of the altercation, the ABVP EFLU unit demanded a fair investigation into the incident and sought the rustication of those involved in the violence against peaceful protesters.

Confirming the clash, university official sources stated that NSUI members should not have been present at the ABVP protest site in the first place. Officials noted that an initial verbal duel between the two student groups subsequently escalated into a physical fight. The university proctorial committee is currently looking into the issue, while the Osmania University police proceed with cases booked against both student groups.
