Abhigna Sai Establishes The Playscape Indoor Activity Centre in Hyderabad

The Playscape, an experiential indoor play space founded by Abhigna Sai, is providing purpose-driven developmental play environments for children aged one to ten in Hyderabad. The centre integrates role-play, STEM learning, sensory activities, and creative maker spaces designed to aid early childhood growth.

The concept originated during the COVID-19 pandemic while Sai was expecting her first daughter. During that period, Sai began exploring early childhood development and researching educational philosophies, including Montessori, Reggio Emilia, sensory play, and gentle parenting. She initially designed play setups at home to observe how her daughter engaged with various materials and activities.

According to Sai, the centre moves away from standard indoor playgrounds that focus primarily on slides and soft-play equipment. Instead, the space treats play as an essential component of child development rather than purely as recreation, aiming to support the whole child through diverse learning environments.

The facility includes a role-play village featuring a pretend house where children can recreate everyday scenarios, alongside the Wonder Lab, which introduces simple STEM concepts through hands-on experiments. It also houses a makers' space for building, dedicated areas for toddlers, water play setups, music areas, and adventure climbing challenges.

The centre is also structured around the parental experience. Families typically spend two to three hours at the space, with the layout designed to let parents relax while their children explore the different zones. In addition to routine visits, the venue has also become a location for children's birthday parties and family celebrations.

Sai noted that the environment was designed from scratch to encourage curiosity, creativity, confidence, and problem-solving by giving children the freedom to play without feeling like they are being formally taught.
