Abhi Eggs Grows Hyderabad Business to Meet Demand for Nutrient Enriched Poultry

Hyderabad-based poultry brand Abhi Eggs has experienced a significant surge in demand for its nutrient-enriched eggs following the COVID-19 pandemic, as health-conscious consumers in the city seek more protein-rich diets. Founded in 2018 by managing partner and co-founder SVV Dora Reddy, the brand, which operates packing units in Hyderabad, has transitioned from a small-scale family initiative into a commercial enterprise focused on specialized poultry feeding practices.

The brand’s journey began with just 500 birds. According to Dora Reddy, the concept originated from his father-in-law, a poultry farmer known for maintaining high-quality feed. After a friend regularly transported these farm eggs to Hyderabad due to their trusted quality, Dora Reddy was inspired to establish a formal brand, naming it Abhi after his son. The brand initially supplied eggs to family and friends before expanding commercially.

What distinguishes the brand's products is their enhanced nutritional value, achieved through specialized feeding regimens. Dora Reddy stated that some nutrients in Abhi Eggs are two to ten times higher than those found in conventional eggs. By providing the hens with a carefully balanced feed, the company has increased levels of selenium and Vitamin E.

Additionally, the eggs contain DHA and EPA, which are omega-3 fatty acids associated with brain and heart health. The hens are fed a selective mix of corn, soybean meal, oilseed cakes, and added nutrients like Vitamin D3 and selenium to improve bird health and egg quality.

To maintain strict quality standards, Abhi Food avoids contract farming. Instead, the company operates its own poultry farms in Ravulapalem, alongside packing facilities in both Ravulapalem and Hyderabad. This direct management allows the company to monitor bird health closely, which includes regulating the pH level of the drinking water to support gut health and managing waste to keep the farms clean and odor-free.

Looking ahead, Abhi Food plans to expand its distribution to more cities. The company is also conducting research to explore value-added egg products, including liquid eggs, while maintaining its core focus on delivering nutritious everyday staples.
