68-Year-Old Man Dies After Car Hits Him During Vehicle Puja in Jubilee Hills

A 68-year-old man died on Friday after he was accidentally knocked down by a car during a vehicle puja at the Sri Peddamma Thalli Temple in Jubilee Hills.

The victim was identified by the Jubilee Hills police as Tummalapalli Ramachandra Rao, a resident of Cherukuwada in West Godavari district. Ramachandra Rao had traveled to Hyderabad with his wife to undergo medical examinations and had been staying at his daughter’s residence in Miyapur.

On Thursday afternoon, his grandson, Lakshmishetty Ramadugu Sai Kumar, who had recently purchased a new car, went to the temple in Jubilee Hills with family members to perform a vehicle puja. Ramachandra Rao accompanied the family to the temple for the ceremony.

During the ritual, the priest reportedly instructed Sai Kumar to move the car slightly forward. When Sai Kumar attempted to move the vehicle, it suddenly surged ahead and struck Ramachandra Rao, who was standing in front of it.

Ramachandra Rao sustained severe injuries in the incident and was immediately rushed to a hospital by his family members. He died on Friday while undergoing treatment.

The Jubilee Hills police have registered a case and are conducting an investigation into the incident.
