68-Year-Old Arrested in Kapra for Running Illegal Homemade Fruit Wine Unit

The Hyderabad police and Excise Department officials busted an illegal homemade fruit wine manufacturing unit in Kapra on Wednesday, arresting its 68-year-old operator. The joint raid resulted in the shutdown of the unlicensed facility and the seizure of hundreds of litres of alcohol.
The arrested operator, identified as Antony Peter, had reportedly been running the illegal manufacturing unit for the past year. According to officials, Peter did not possess the required licence to manufacture or sell alcoholic beverages. He allegedly learned the entire process of making fruit-based wine by watching tutorials on YouTube.
During the operation in Kapra, authorities seized 377 litres of illegally manufactured wine. Along with the bulk wine, officials also confiscated 502 bottles that were already packaged and ready for sale to local customers.
Investigating officers revealed that Peter was selling the homemade wine in 750-ml bottles, pricing them at Rs 300 each. The illegal product was being distributed to a customer base across several areas, including Kapra, Neredmet, and Secunderabad.
Following the arrest and seizure, the police and Excise Department have launched a deeper investigation into the operation. Authorities are currently working to identify the source of the raw materials Peter used to manufacture the wine. Additionally, investigators are examining the distribution network to determine how the wine was marketed and whether any other individuals were involved in the illegal business.
