6 Hyderabad Assembly Seats Among Telangana's 10 Smallest After Voter Roll Revision

6 Hyderabad Assembly Seats Among Telangana's 10 Smallest After Voter Roll Revision

The draft electoral roll published on August 17 under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) has dramatically altered Telangana’s electoral landscape, placing six assembly segments in Hyderabad—Sanathnagar, Secunderabad Cantonment, Charminar, Amberpet, Goshamahal, and Secunderabad—among the state’s 10 smallest constituencies.

The shift comes after extensive exclusions under the absent, shifted, dead, and duplicate (ASDD) verification exercise. Prior to the revision, the five smallest constituencies in Telangana were all rural or tribal segments: Bhadrachalam with 1.5 lakh electors, Aswaraopeta with 1.6 lakh, Bellampalli with 1.8 lakh, Banswada with 1.9 lakh, and Chennur with 1.97 lakh. The category previously did not include a single Hyderabad constituency.

Under the new rankings, Sanathnagar has dropped to become the second smallest constituency in the state, with its electorate shrinking from 2.53 lakh to 1.39 lakh after 1.14 lakh electors (44.9%) were removed. Secunderabad Cantonment now ranks third with 1.40 lakh voters, falling from 2.45 lakh after a reduction of more than one lakh electors, or 42.7%. Charminar stands fourth with 1.43 lakh electors, down from 2.38 lakh after 94,177 voters (39.6%) were excluded.

Bhadrachalam remains the state's smallest assembly segment with 1.33 lakh electors following a 12.9% drop from 1.53 lakh, while Aswaraopeta ranks fifth with 1.44 lakh electors after a 9.6% reduction from 1.60 lakh.

Across the expanded top 10 list, Bellampalli is sixth with 1.59 lakh electors. Amberpet ranks seventh with 1.62 lakh voters, down 42.6% from 2.82 lakh. Goshamahal occupies the eighth position with 1.65 lakh electors following a 40% reduction from 2.75 lakh. Secunderabad stands ninth with 1.66 lakh electors, dropping 38.1% from 2.69 lakh, followed by Chennur in tenth place with 1.69 lakh electors.

Together, the six Hyderabad constituencies lost approximately 6.46 lakh electors during the revision, bringing urban assembly segments that were previously among the state's larger seats to the bottom of the electorate table alongside historically small rural constituencies.
