50-Year-Old Woman Dies by Suicide at Ladies' Hostel in Kukatpally

A 50-year-old housekeeping employee died by suicide at a private ladies’ hostel in Sardar Patel Nagar, Kukatpally, following prolonged emotional distress caused by severe family problems, according to the KPHB police.

The deceased has been identified as Tirupati Sudha, originally a resident of Janwada in Rangareddy district. She had been working as a housekeeping staff member at the private hostel and was residing on the premises.

The incident came to light on Wednesday morning when a fellow hostel staff member, identified as Sanjana, went to Sudha’s room to collect the key to a geyser. Upon finding the room door closed, Sanjana checked inside and discovered Sudha hanging from the ceiling fan with a saree.

Police inquiries revealed that Sudha had been dealing with prolonged distress stemming from her household circumstances. Sudha had two sons. Her elder son is currently lodged at the Cherlapally Central Jail, where he is serving a sentence in connection with the murder of his father. Her younger son was reportedly addicted to drugs and routinely troubled her with demands for money.

Sudha’s sister informed the police that the continuous family difficulties had put Sudha under intense emotional and mental strain for some time.

According to the KPHB police, the family members have stated that they have no suspicion regarding her death. The police have registered a case and taken up further investigation into the incident.
