4-Year-Old Boy Dies After Father Smashes Head Against PVNR Expressway Pillar

A four-year-old boy died on August 9, four days after his father allegedly smashed his head against a pillar on the PVNR Expressway in Hyderabad in full public view.

The child succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at Niloufer Hospital, where doctors told police that the boy's skull was shattered in the attack. Medical personnel at the hospital did not disclose further details regarding his condition or the exact cause of death.

Police identified the accused as 25-year-old Salman. According to investigating officer Upendra Babu, Salman suspected his wife of infidelity and believed that the four-year-old was not his biological son.

Salman already has a suspect sheet registered against him at the Golconda police station involving several cases of theft, as well as a documented history of violence against his family. Upendra Babu stated that Salman's wife and mother had filed several complaints with Golconda police over his violent behaviour in the past, after which the family was counselled and sent back home.

Following the child's death, Salman's family addressed the media to demand swift justice. His mother, Israth Begum, stated that Salman was addicted to alcohol, acted suspiciously, and tortured family members daily. She said she had tried to stop him when he was taking her grandson out on the morning of August 5, describing the subsequent assault as gruesome.
