35-Year-Old Man Killed as Truck Hits Parked Lorry on Medchal ORR

A 35-year-old man was killed after a heavily loaded truck rammed into a parked lorry on the Outer Ring Road in Medchal during heavy rain on Tuesday.

According to the police, the incident took place around 4 am. The lorry, which was transporting a consignment of plywood from Chennai to Miyapur, had halted on the roadside due to sudden downpours.

The victim, identified as Bihari Rai, was travelling with the consignment. When the rainfall intensified, Rai climbed onto the vehicle to tie a tarpaulin sheet over the plywood to keep the load dry.

While Rai was securing the cover, another truck carrying crusher material allegedly approached from behind at high speed and crashed into the stationary vehicle. The violent impact threw Rai off the lorry onto the road.

Rai suffered severe head injuries and heavy bleeding as a result of the fall and collision, dying on the spot before medical assistance could reach him.

Officers from the Medchal police station arrived at the scene and launched an investigation into the fatal accident. Police are examining the circumstances leading to the crash, including the speed of the crusher-laden truck and visibility conditions on the road during the rain.

Investigators are also looking into how the plywood-laden lorry was parked along the expressway and are gathering further details regarding the two vehicles involved in the collision.
