35,125 Apply for 7,340 Indiramma Houses in Hyderabad as Deadline Nears

The Telangana Housing Board received 35,125 applications for 7,340 Indiramma Houses affordable flats across Hyderabad CURE limits as of Saturday, August 8 evening, with two days remaining before the August 10 deadline. The highest number of applications came from Khairatabad Assembly constituency with 4,394 submissions, followed by Quthbullapur with 4,121 and Nampally with 3,613. Preliminary lotteries to select beneficiaries are scheduled to begin on August 20.

The Housing Board had previously instructed citizens to submit applications only within their respective Assembly constituencies. The selection lotteries will be conducted constituency-wise by pooling applications from each area. While the Board initially planned to construct 480 flats in Secunderabad Cantonment constituency, the number may be reduced to 120 flats due to building height restrictions.

Telangana Housing Board Vice Chairman V.P. Gautham stated that measures are being taken to complete construction within a year and hand over the homes to beneficiaries, with tenders currently in process. Under the broader program, the State government aims to construct one lakh houses in CURE limits, starting with 500 flats in each of 16 Assembly constituencies announced under Phase I on July 20.

Applications have been accepted since July 21 through MeeSeva centres, the official website, and WhatsApp. Under the scheme's financial model, the State government provides a subsidy of ₹5 lakh per unit, while each beneficiary is required to pay ₹6 lakh in four installments to own a house.

Applicants are required to pay a fee of ₹100 and an earnest money deposit (EMD) of ₹10,000. Mr. Gautham reiterated that the EMD will be refunded if an applicant is not allotted a house.
