22-Year-Old Man Booked for Stalking Cabin Crew Member at RGIA
The Rajiv Gandhi International Airport police in Hyderabad have registered a criminal case against a 22-year-old man for allegedly stalking and threatening a 22-year-old airline cabin crew member at the airport premises in Shamshabad. According to official complaint records, the incident occurred around 6 p.m. on Wednesday evening, August 6, near the two-wheeler parking area located close to an eatery at the airport.
In her complaint to the authorities, the cabin crew member stated that the accused began following her as she walked through the area. Despite her repeated attempts to avoid him by changing her movement and shifting to different locations, the man continued to stalk her across the venue.
The confrontation escalated when the woman stopped to stand with a fellow airline crew member near the two-wheeler parking area. At that moment, the accused approached the pair directly and uttered an objectionable and threatening remark directed at the complainant.
The cabin crew member immediately raised an alarm following the harassment, drawing the direct attention of several bystanders who were present in the immediate vicinity. The bystanders intervened in the disturbance and promptly alerted the local airport police to the situation.
The woman subsequently lodged a formal complaint with the airport police station. In her complaint, she emphasized that her job as an airline crew member requires her to pass through the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport on a frequent basis, including during late-night hours, leaving her deeply concerned about her ongoing personal safety.
Following the victim's statement, the RGIA police registered a case against the accused, identified as Naresh Naik, a resident of Shamshabad. The case was booked under Sections 78 and 79 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita. Section 78 addresses the offense of stalking, while Section 79 deals with words, gestures, or acts intended to insult the modesty of a woman.
Providing details on the suspect, Airport outpost inspector B Kiran Kumar stated that Naik is an unemployed individual who is mentally disturbed. Inspector Kiran Kumar further confirmed that a legal notice has been served to the accused in accordance with procedural law following the registration of the case.
