21-Year-Old Woman Found Murdered in Gunny Bag in Hyderabad, Partner Absconding

A 21-year-old woman was allegedly murdered by her lover and her body hidden inside a gunny bag at her rented accommodation under the Adibatla police division in Hyderabad, officials said on Monday.

The victim, identified as Rehana, originally hailed from Bihar and worked at a banquet hall. Police said she had been in a relationship for approximately a year with Ahmad Salam, also a 21-year-old native of Bihar who works as a labourer in function halls.

According to investigators, the murder stemmed from an argument regarding their relationship, Rehana's alleged closeness with another man, and her reported demands that Salam marry her. During the confrontation, the dispute escalated and Salam allegedly attacked Rehana with a knife, stabbing her to death.

After the killing, the suspect allegedly attempted to conceal the crime by placing her body inside a gunny bag before attempting to flee the premises.

The incident came to light after authorities received an alert via Dial 100 in the early hours of Monday morning. A Sub-Inspector arrived at the residence to investigate the call and discovered the victim's body wrapped inside the bag in the bedroom.

Confirming the details, ACP Adibatla Pradeep Kumar Reddy stated that police received the alert around 5:00 am. Upon reaching the spot, officials verified that the woman had been stabbed, was bleeding, and had been packed inside a gunny bag inside the bedroom.

Police said Ahmad Salam fled the scene following the crime and is currently on the run. Search teams have been deployed to trace his whereabouts and establish the complete sequence of events. Investigators are also examining whether any other individuals were involved in the incident.

The victim's body was shifted to the Osmania General Hospital mortuary for a post-mortem examination. A murder case has been registered, and further investigation is underway.
