2 Dead, Several Injured in Madhapur Building Collapse in Hyderabad

Two people were killed and several others sustained injuries after an under-construction seven-storey building collapsed at Anjaiah Nagar in Hyderabad's Madhapur on Saturday. Emergency response teams rushed to the site to clear the debris and rescue individuals trapped beneath the rubble.

The multi-storey structure gave way suddenly, prompting an immediate joint operation involving local police and emergency rescue personnel. Officials confirmed that rescue workers were deployed to search through the concrete debris and locate anyone trapped under the fallen structure.

A police official confirmed the casualties from the site, stating that two people had lost their lives following the collapse of the seven-storey building in Anjaiah Nagar. Cyberabad Police stated that rescue teams reached the spot quickly and initiated extensive efforts to clear the rubble and assist the injured.

Congress MLA Arekapudi Gandhi addressed the incident, alleging that the building was being constructed without proper clearances and had previously been under official scrutiny. He claimed that civic authorities had earlier stopped work on the illegal building in the Madhapur division for four months, but construction was restarted illegally.

According to Gandhi, cellar work was being extended to an adjacent structure connected to the seven-storey building, which compromised structural stability and led to the sudden collapse.

Gandhi also raised broader concerns regarding unauthorized building projects in the Serilingampally area, warning of the serious public safety hazards created by builders who violate civic regulations. He noted that despite buildings being seized by authorities, non-compliance with building norms continues to result in hazardous incidents.

Emergency rescue operations remained underway at the site as authorities worked to clear the remaining debris and account for all individuals who were inside or near the building at the time of the collapse.
