1,100 Hyderabad Police Officers Raid Mangal Basti to Seize Drugs and Liquor

Nearly 1,100 Hyderabad police personnel launched a massive pre-dawn search operation in the Mangal Basti area and its surrounding localities on Wednesday night. The coordinated raids targeted the illegal sale of drugs and liquor in the neighbourhood.
The extensive operation was carried out under the direct supervision of Additional Joint Commissioner of Police Tafseer Iqbal. A total of 38 special police teams were deployed to conduct the searches across the residential pockets of Mangal Basti.
According to authorities, the operation was initiated based on specific intelligence reports. The intelligence indicated that illegal cough syrups were being secretly sold from residential houses in the area, allegedly luring local youth into drug addiction.
During the pre-dawn searches, the special teams seized a substantial quantity of narcotics and other contraband. The seized items included ganja, banned Nitravet tablets, and numerous bottles of illegal cough syrup suspected to be used as intoxicants. Officers also found and confiscated a significant amount of illegally stored liquor. All the seized contraband has been taken into police custody, and a further investigation into the supply network is currently underway.
In addition to the crackdown on narcotics, the police focused on tracking down habitual and history-sheet offenders. Authorities had received information that these offenders were taking shelter within the locality. During the operation, police personnel verified the presence of these individuals and successfully identified several persons who had been evading arrest for a long time. These long-time absconders were immediately taken into custody.
The police teams also conducted checks on vehicles parked and moving through the area. During these checks, officers seized several suspicious vehicles because their operators or owners could not produce valid ownership or registration documents.
